Sheep And Goat Grand Nationals
This May Day, in keeping with past years, Hoo Farm will be staging the Sheep and Goat Grand Nationals!
Previous years has seen the World Famous and World Class Sheep take to the course for the first major event in the Hoo Farm Racing calendar but for the fifth year running the Goats will be racing over their rustic course which has fences such as Table Top Drop and the Puissance Wall. The Sheep course has been once again Sponsored by Wolverhampton Racecourse – Britain’s first floodlit horse racecourse – and the Goat course by Beacon Radio! The Sheep and Goat racers will be out to prove they are more than a match for their equine counterparts.
The big test will be if the goats rise to the challenge or buckle under the pressure! Edward and Carolyn Dorrell are worried that they have not been putting in the same level of commitment to the sport as the sheep do and whilst last year was a success Carolyn Dorrell said “Our sheep really are amazing; they have the winter off and come back to the course with more speed and determination year on year. This May Days Sheep and Goat Nationals promises to be a nail biting experience!”
With a full race commentary, 17 Sheep Racers competing in the Sheep National and 8 Galloping Goats in the Goat National there is plenty of opportunity for all the family to support their favourite and shout it on to the finish.
This Bank Holiday bring out your competitive side and come to the races at Hoo Farm!
Open 10am – 6pm
